Wood Restoration is more than just applying a new coat of seal! At Neptune's, a skilled technician trained by our wood restoration certified specialists will inspect and evaluate your deck, fence, gazebo or other wood surfaces. Upon completion you will be provided with recommendations and an estimate at no charge.
Inspection and evaluation includes:
*Determination of wood type and condition
*Observation for mold, algae, or fungus
*Assess product type and condition of any current seal
*Determine need for minor or major repair related to lifting boards, splintered wood, broken or rotted
*Provide professional recommendations
When the work begins:
The deck should be clear of any plants or patio furniture. If you are unable to remove any of the items, discuss your concern with the technician, we may be able to help if we know in advance.
Step 1: The deck will be washed using light power washing.
*If mold, algae, or fungus is present, steps will be taken to kill the organism to slow recurrence.
NOTE: depending on exposure to moisture, sun, and shade, recurrence is
possible. We recommend our annual maintenance plan to avoid wood damage associated with
mold, algae, and fungus.
Step 2: Some deck seals require stripping prior to re-sealing. If so, a stripper is applied, allowed to dwell,
after which the deck is washed again.
Step 3: A brightener is applied to the wood to restore as much of the naturally beautiful color as possible.
This step removes the graying caused by ultraviolet light exposure.
Step 4: The wood must dry before seal is applied. Depending on weather and sun exposure, this may take
a day to several days.
Step 5: A wood penetrating seal is applied to all surfaces. Various shades and even clear are available.
*We strongly recommend our annual maintenance plan. Often if the deck receives annual
maintenance no coat of seal, or a light coat on the horizontal surfaces may be all that is needed.
